Jan* is a Pakistani elder living in Hong Kong\u2019s Eastern District, a neighbourhood home to a vibrant South Asian community. Like many women of her generation, her life, for decades revolved around caring for her family while her children went out to work. Because of language barriers, she found it hard to integrate into the wider community and had little opportunity to communicate with her Chinese-speaking neighbours.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Since joining the \u201cNarrating Life Stories \u2013 Supportive Project for Ethnic Minority Elders\u201d, organised by the Methodist Epworth Village Community Centre, Social Welfare<\/a>, Jan has begun to find a sense of belonging. Centred on the sharing of life stories, the project aims to promote social inclusion through the power of storytelling.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

As a member of the project\u2019s art therapy group, Jan has created several artworks under the theme \u201cThe Five Flavours of Life\u201d, using art to explore stories behind the different \u201ctastes\u201d of her life. Volunteers also visited her at home and, based on her sharing, crafted a \u201cfamily tree\u201d artwork symbolising intergenerational legacy, and placed it in her personal \u201clife story treasure box\u201d. These works were later showcased to the public at the Life Celebration Exhibition.<\/p>\n

Jan* \u662f\u4e00\u4f4d\u5c45\u4f4f\u5728\u6e2f\u5cf6\u6771\u5340\u7684\u5df4\u57fa\u65af\u5766\u88d4\u9577\u8005\uff0c\u8a72\u5340\u662f\u5145\u6eff\u6d3b\u529b\u7684\u5357\u4e9e\u88d4\u793e\u7fa4\u805a\u5c45\u5730\u3002\u8207\u8a31\u591a\u540c\u4ee3\u5973\u6027\u4e00\u6a23\uff0c\u904e\u53bb\u6578\u5341\u5e74\uff0c\u5979\u96a8\u8457\u5b50\u5973\u5916\u51fa\u5de5\u4f5c\uff0c\u628a\u751f\u6d3b\u91cd\u5fc3\u5b8c\u5168\u653e\u5728\u7167\u9867\u5bb6\u5ead\u4e0a\u3002\u7531\u65bc\u8a9e\u8a00\u9694\u95a1\uff0c\u5979\u96e3\u4ee5\u878d\u5165\u793e\u5340\uff0c\u4ea6\u8f03\u5c11\u8207\u8aaa\u4e2d\u6587\u7684\u9130\u5c45\u4ea4\u6d41\u3002<\/p>\n
