Operation Santa Claus is a home-grown flagship charity drive in Hong Kong, jointly established by the South China Morning Post and RTHK in 1988. As two of the city’s most trusted media organisations with broad and influential reach, SCMP and RTHK have helped unlock the spirit of giving across generations. From modest beginnings, the campaign has grown into one of Hong Kong’s most recognised platforms for philanthropy and collaborative giving. Today, it brings together a city-wide network of corporate partners, schools, and individual supporters, along with over a thousand local charitable organisations, to foster a shared culture of compassion and community impact. SCMP Charities Limited, an independent charity registered under section 88 of the Inland Revenue Ordinance (IR File No. 91/7320), was established in 2004 to carry forward this legacy and continue championing meaningful causes through city-wide fundraisers and initiatives that transform lives.

SCMP Charities incorporated

SCMP Charities Limited is officially incorporated to manage OSC operations and uphold its mission to unlock the spirit of giving across Hong Kong. (IR File No. 91/7320)

City-wide fundraiser in full sprint

Corporates, schools, and sports clubs across the city join forces in OSC annual campaign, raising millions and expanding its reach as one of Hong Kong’s most impactful city-wide fundraisers.

40 years of giving celebration

As we celebrate 40 years of impact, OSC continues to grow a vibrant network of over 300 local charities and thousands of supporters, nurturing collaborative philanthropic communities across Hong Kong.

This helps build a stronger base of donors, reducing the reliance on any single entity.
