Finding the circle of control

Ms Wong* constantly worried about her 23-year-old autistic son, Isaac, who faced intense anxiety and emotional challenges transitioning out of special schooling without structured support.

Through the “SEED” courses led by local NGOs Be Priceless for children with special education needs (SEN) and their families, Isaac learned “In-and-out Breathing” and the “Circle of Control” techniques to manage his anxiety. Guided by visual charts, he now independently completes his exercises at home. The programme also broke the family’s isolation by offering a safe space for peer connection.

“I am so delighted that classmates proactively chat with us. This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to practise their social skills,” she said.
