What is Wing Ding?

The Tournament was founded in 1998 in memory of Yuen Kam-wing, a physically impaired and much-loved staff member at the Hong Kong Squash Centre. The name itself is a tribute to two things close to the squash community’s heart. “Wing” honors Kam-wing’s spirit of resilience and community, while “Ding” comes from the satisfying sound the ball makes when it hits the metal tin at the bottom of the court.

When you step onto the court, you are carrying his legacy forward. Since partnering with Operation Santa Claus in 2004, the Wing Ding tournament has dedicated itself to true inclusivity, ensuring that communities in need across our city receive the essential support required to thrive.

About the tournament

Hosted annually at the Hong Kong Football Club, Wing Ding brings together passionate squash players who aren’t afraid to get creative for a cause. While the team costumes bring the laughs, the underlying mission remains deeply purposeful.

Every serve, rally, and creative costume brings us closer to a healthier, more inclusive Hong Kong. Beyond the court, your support powers local charities that provide accessible health resources, mental well-being support, and essential aid to those who need it most.
